  • 10 Dec, 2019

Creating and distributing quality content over different channels is one of the most important strategies to become successful in digital marketing.  Now, the question arises that how could we use the various channels in the best way possible? And that is what our discussion is all about. In this blog, let’s take a look at the top 9 digital distribution channels for content over the internet.

Blogs:

Blogging is one of the best ways to publish content online. For instance in my case, I did not have to invest much for starting my blog. My only expenses were domain registration costs and web-hosting costs. This is negligible compared to the revenue I earn from my blogs.  One thing that you should keep in mind is that you have to provide quality content in your blogs. You can do the content on your own or with the help of bloggers and digital marketers. If you do such, you can easily attract huge traffic from various traffic sources.

E-books:

E-books are a great way for distributing quality content online. Reports, whitepapers, online journals, 20-50 page documents etc. are published in the form of an eBook.  These days, people prefer eBooks as these can deliver short and precise information on the topic of their choice. They are also quite economical and can be carried anywhere. To make your eBooks hugely demanding, focus on the design and the content.

Books:

This is the oldest form of content distribution channel. Many people still don’t like to read online and prefer to buy books. But once again, you should remember that the key to your book’s success lies in quality content

Videos:

Online videos are yet another medium of effective distribution of content.  Today, online videos are giving a tough competition to TV. Currently, YouTube is the No.1 video platform in the world. So, if you are still not accustomed to using YouTube, you are probably missing out a huge number of audiences. Video marketing also helps you to engage your existing audience with audio visual content. You can also host your own online videos, if you do not want to share them on You Tube. Platforms like Vimeo help you to host online videos at lesser costs.

Social Media:

Social media is one of the best features of internet. Today, there are a number of social media channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tinder, Twitter, etc. Each of them has distinct features as they are meant for distinct purposes. You can target a huge audience on social media because most of the people today are active on social media. Though the number of organic reach of posts on social media has gone down in the recent years but still the power of social media cannot be ignored. If you engage your audience with quality content, you can attract a good percentage of people.

Podcasts:

Podcasts are audio files having content. It helps us to learn new things by listening. There are numerous channels for podcasts like SoundCloud, iTunes, Spotify and so on. You can also host podcast directly on the websites of your brand. You can upload the audio files to Dropbox or Amazon Drive and share the links via email. You can also upload the podcasts on YouTube with a static image on the video. If you are able to post quality content on Podcast, you can get a unique set of highly engaged, high quality audience following you on audio.

Forums and Groups:

You can create online forums, also called as Bulletin Boards, which are websites where there is a community of people interested in a particular subject. Groups and forums can be a source of high quality traffic to your blog. They might be a great source of revenue for your products and services. The best thing about online groups is that the interaction is real time and public.

Email:

Email is a great online medium. Most of the internet users check their mails after becoming online. Email is a very personal space and the communication is very specific. Email marketing is one of the greatest contributors of revenue in our business.

Offline Meet-ups:

Offline meet-ups are not a part of digital marketing medium, but they strengthen online communication. Offline interactions reinforce interpersonal bonds which is helpful in online communication. Offline meet-ups also help to create quality content

Final Words

There are many channels of communication such as print magazines, journals and mobile apps which I have not included in the above list as those channels are not within the reach of everyone. You should try to use all the above channels in the digital medium to distribute your content.
