The ultimate purpose of Quora for teaching and learning

Quora is a Q&A website where users can post questions so that other users can answer them. You can choose the best answer among all the answers for the question which you have posted. Quora was founded in June 2009, and its website was made online on 21st June 2010. 

As a teacher, you can use Quora in multiple ways. Here, I will discuss such techniques by which you can use Quora as part of your teaching toolkit.

REGISTER IN QUORA TO GET NOTIFICATION ON FAVORITE SUBJECTS

At first, you need to register yourself in Quora. You can do this by manually inputting your details or through your Facebook or Google profile. After that, you have to select your favorite subjects. After the registration process, you will get notifications on various latest information about those subjects. Such notifications will appear in your registered mobile number as messages or will be sent to your registered email ID.  

CREATE A TOPIC & ASK RELEVANT QUESTIONS

Now enter in your Quora profile and create a topic. After that, on the topic page you can post questions relevant to that topic. The topic has been saved, so you don’t need to mention that topic in your questions. For example, if you select a topic with the name “B.R Institute”, then you don’t need to post a question by asking “When the internal exams will be taken in B.R institute?” Instead, create a question like “When the internal exams will be taken?” By using this approach, you can create a topic which may contain the course, syllabus, textbooks, exam dates etc. Your students can ask questions on that topic, and you can answer them easily. You can also create a topic on any particular assignment so that students can post questions on that assignment. 

KEEP YOUR ANSWERS SIMPLE & TO-THE-POINT

You need to encourage students when giving answers to their questions so that they don’t hesitate to explain their problems. Your answers should be perfect and simple so that all students and visitors can understand them easily and feel inspired.

You can adjust settings on the top right of your topic page so that you can receive notifications of new questions in your email ID. If you see multiple questions, then at first find out which question has maximum followers. It means maximum students want to know the answer to that particular question. So, write the answer to that question at first before writing the answers of other questions.   

USE QUORA FOR LEARNING & KNOWLEDGE

Apart from teaching and guiding, you can also use Quora to gather knowledge of your preferred subjects. This will help you to share that knowledge with your students. Always keep yourself updated with the latest news, information and other latest issues of your preferred subjects and create some questions on them and search the answers in Quora. You will get a huge number of answers, which will be helpful for you to gather knowledge. 

Quora is not merely a platform of Questions and Answers, but of learning as well. Not only education or teaching, this platform is useful to professionals of other sectors too. Question and Answer sections are available for all subjects. Thus, an individual can make himself/herself well-informed about the latest trends of any sector.
